11/6/03 North Platte takes on the Metro in Class A Football this coming Monday night. After the first round action of Class A, the Bulldogs are the only team left outside of Omaha in the play-offs. North Platte survived a scare from the Vikings of North with a last minute field goal and a 31-28 win. Surprises took place with the upsets of #4, the defending champion, Lincoln Southeast. The Patriots of Millard South controlled the ball with the running of Erspamer and Mannino. Millard South will be home next round as they take on Millard West who eliminated Columbus. The other surprise was the ease that Bellevue East had in defeating Lincoln East 34-7 in Lincoln. The strong running out off the double wing was more than Spartans could handle. As the Chieftains racked up 268 yards on the ground. Chieftains next round opponent will be North Platte here in Omaha on Monday. In other action the top seeds played to form as Millard North moved on and will face Westside, who defeated Burke, at Buehl on Monday. Creighton Prep, the #1 seed, controlled Lincoln SW and will play Papillion/LaVista who defeated Bellevue West for the 2nd time this season. This game will also be Monday at site to be yet determined.
