11-3  Still smarting after losing a 16 point advantage a couple of weeks ago in a 17-16 setback at the hands of Millard South, Bellevue East cranked up its double wing attack and stopped the Patriots, 26-6. The Chieftains defense kept Millard South out of the end zone, even though the visitors were able to move the ball between the 20's. East's speedy running back, Robert Rands, led the way for the Chieftains with 147 yards on 20 carries, including a 69 yard dash that gave the host team a 14-6 lead. Monday night, Jerry Lovell's squad takes its show on the road for rugged matchup with Omaha Westside at Phelps Field.

October 29

The Chieftain finish the regular season with a 55-13 win over Omaha Burke.

Bellevue East took a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter on a 77-yard touchdown pass from Tim Burton to Robert Rands and a 9-yard touchdown run by Kevin Johson with Josh McKean adding the extra points.

The Chieftains offense continued to dominate as the defense held Burke scoreless for 3 quarters. Bellevue East added 27 points in the second quarter securing a 41-13 halftime lead.

The Chieftains capitalized on the Burke turnovers including two interceptions by Justin Conley, one that was returned for a touchdown. Bellevue East blocked two punts that set up touchdowns as six Chieftains scored rushing touchdowns in the game.

October 23

Bellevue East ran out of time in their comeback attempt in the 16-17 loss to Millard South Friday night.

The Chieftains took the early lead in Friday night's game on a 45-yard interception return by McConnell and a 42-yard field goal by McKean to give Bellevue East the 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Chieftains scored again in the second quarter on a 63-yard touchdown run by Johnson. The Bellevue East defense held Millard South scoreless throughout the first half but were unable to contain them in the second half as they took a 17-16 lead. The Chieftains attempted a comeback with a 51-yard field goal attempt as the clock ran out.

The Bellevue East Chieftains ran for 497 yards in Friday night's 56-20 win over Omaha Bryan.  

Bellevue East scored on 7 of 8 offensive possessions in Friday night's game with Robert Rands accumulating 188 yards with 4 touchdowns on 16 carries. Kevin Johnson scored twice for the Chieftains, including a 22-yard interception return with Holtmeyer and McConnell each adding a touchdown for Bellevue East. 

The Chieftains will face Millard South at Buell Stadium for Friday night's game.

***October 11

Bellevue East opened the scoring in Friday night's 18-7 win over Omaha North on an 8-yard run by Robert Rands in the first quarter.

Robert Rands carried 21 times for 148 yards as the Chieftains controlled the ball for 30 minutes. Tim Burton added to the Bellevue East score in the second quarter on a 1-yard run giving the Chieftains a 12-0 lead before North responded with a touchdown before the half. Gach finished the scoring for Bellevue East in the fourth quarter with a 37-yard fumble return.

Bellevue East faces host Omaha Bryan on Friday night.

****October 2

The Chieftains scored on their opening drive in Friday night's victory over Omaha Benson when quarterback Tim Burton scored on a 1-yard run. Burton scored again early in the third quarter on a 58-yard punt return and connected on a 24-yard touchdown pass to Justin Conley.

The Bellevue East defense held Omaha Benson to 130 yards in the game with one touchdown as the Chieftains claim the 28-7 win.

Bellevue East hosts Omaha North next Friday night.

The Bellevue East Chieftains traveled to Kearney for a Friday night match-up.

Kearney jumped off to the early lead in the first quarter but the Chieftain defense held them scoreless for the remainder of the game. When the Bellevue East offense-could not get on the board, Kearny claimed the 10-0 win.

The Chieftains host Omaha Benson on Friday night.

******September 18

The Chieftains rallied in the 2nd half, but couldn't overcome Omaha South's fast start and fell to the Packers, 16-12. East is now 0-2 this year after losing to Bellevue West 35-27.
Burton scored on a 2 yard run, then completed a 35 yard pass for a touchdown. Statistically, the Packers held a slim edge in total yardage, 239-218.
Friday night, East will try to play spoilers when unbeaten Lincoln High comes to town.

9-17- Homecoming nights are special, and that was certainly the case for Bellevue East as the Chieftains upset Lincoln High, 19-16.Eric Holtmeyer brought the opening kickoff back 93 yards in helping stake the host team to a 13-nothing 1st quarter lead. Robert Rands paced the vaunted Chieftain rushing attack with 112 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Johnson also scored a touchdown and ran for 80 yards. Next up for Bellevue East is a tough road test against the Kearney Bearcats.
