October 29 The Burke Bulldogs closed the regular season with a 13-55 loss to Bellevue East Thursday night finishing the season with a 5-4 record. Jared Hyland threw for 129 yards including a touchdown pass to Phillip Cooney. John Holcomb added to the Burke score with a 25 yard touchdown run in the second quarter. October 23 The Burke Bulldogs advance to 5-3 following Friday night's 28-6 win over Omaha Bryan. The Bulldogs recorded a total of 356 yards in Friday night's game including Travis Liechti's 191 yards on 25 carries for 3 touchdowns. Liechti opened the second half with a 92-yard kickoff return giving the Bulldogs the momentum to claim the 28-6 victory. Omaha Burke finishes the regular season at Bellevue East Thursday night. October 18 Omaha Burke took on #2 Omaha Westside Friday night at Phelps Field. The Bulldogs took the early lead when Travis Liechti scored on an 85-yard pass from Jared Hyland to put Burke up 7-0 early in the first quarter. The Bulldog defense was strong against the Warriors holding them to a field goal for the 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. When Westside took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter, the Burke offense responded with a 49-yard touchdown run by Liechti to give the Bulldogs a 14-10 advantage. Both teams struggled offensively through the next quarter, but the Warriors were able to capitalize on some critical Bulldog miscues to take a 27-14 lead into the fourth quarter. Early in the fourth quarter Hyland connected on a 20-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Wilcox to bring the Bulldogs to within 6 but Burke was unable to capitalize when Liechti recovered a Westside fumble. Westside closed out the scoring later in the quarter handing the Bulldogs a 21-34 loss.  Omaha Burke hosts Omaha Bryan Friday night. ****October 11 Omaha Burke faced a focused Millard South team in Friday night's 20-31 loss at Burke Stadium. The Bulldog offense got on track in the second quarter when Hyland connected on a 7-yard pass to Al-Turk to open the scoring for Burke. Burke scored again in the third quarter on a 5-yard pass from Hyland to Von Kerrens and again in the fourth when Al-Turk was on the receiving end of a 28-yard pass from Hyland but the clock ran out before the Bulldogs could complete a comeback in the 20-31 loss. Omaha Burke will face #2 Omaha Westside at Phelps Field on Friday night. *****October 2 The Burke Bulldogs rally to overcome a one touchdown deficit at half to claim a 21-14 win over Omaha North on Friday night. Quarterback Jared Hyland started the Bulldog comeback in the second half with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Will Von Kerens. Travis Liechti added to the Bulldog scoring on a one yard run with Hyland passing to Erik Bird for the two point conversion to put the Bulldogs ahead 14-7 in the third quarter. Omaha Burke scored once more in the fourth quarter when John Holcomb scored on an 8-yard run. The Bulldogs face Millard South at home on Friday night. ****September 24 The Burke Bulldogs advance to 2-2 following an exciting 27-26 victory over Millard North on Thursday night. Junior quarterback Jared Hyland passed for a 340 yards including the crucial 87-yard connection to tight end Erik Bird in the winning drive.   Travis Liechti scored the first touchdown of the game on a 10-yard pass from Hyland in the first quarter followed by and Alex Henery kick giving the Bulldogs the early lead. In the second quarter Hyland scored on a 1-yard run with a Henery kick adding the extra point and tying the score at 14 at half. The Bulldogs opened the second half scoring on a 3-yard pass to Liechti from Hyland with Henery successful on the kick, while the defense held North scoreless for the quarter. The Mustangs came out in the fourth quarter adding 12 points before the Bulldogs added to their score on a 3-yard run by Travis Liechti to take a 1-point lead in the game with 2:30 remaining. Millard North responded driving to the Burke 22 but were unable to get the ball across the goal before the clock ran out.  The Bulldogs travel to Omaha North next Friday night. ************ September 18 Omaha Burke moves to 1-1 for the season after a tough 16-8 loss to Papillion LaVista on Friday night.  After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs had difficulty with the Monarchs' defense in the third quarter, but didn't give up. Quarterback Jared Hyland directed an 8 play, 80-yard drive that ended with a 15 yard touchdown pass to Tyler Wilcox, with a two-point conversion to bring the  visitors within 8. The clock ran out before the Bulldogs could complete their comeback. The Bulldogs host Omaha Central on Friday night. ---- Take away the 4th quarter, and the Burke Bulldogs would be cele brating a football win over Omaha Central. However, running back Robert Wesley had other ideas. He broke loose on runs of 52 and 11 yards. The Bulldogs led 14-7 at halftime and again at the end of the 3rd quarter, but couldn't generate any offense in the final period. After 2 close losses, the schedule gets tougher as the Bulldogs visit Millard North this week.
