10/31/03:  Creston/Orient-Macksburg quarterback Eric Crittenden threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third to lead the Panthers to a 34-14 win over Lewis Central at Titan Field.  Crittenden hit Jim Ide for a 19-yard score and Michael Buck for a 63-yard touchdown to put Creston up 20-6 at the half.  "They have as fine a passing game as you're going to see in high school football," said Lewis Central coach Duane Orr.  Crittenden ran it in from three yards out for a third quarter touchdown.  After falling behind 14-0 and having a field goal attempt blocked, the Titans got on the scoreboard when quarterback Brady Erickson hit Jeremy Yates for a 69-yard touchdown.  The Titans added another score in the third quarter when Seth Jackson broke loose for a 77-yard touchdown run.  "These kids don't have an ounce of quit in them," said Orr of his young team that ended the year 1-8.  "We'll have a lot of experience back for the first time since I've been here."

10/24/03 Denison-Schleswig sprinted to a 21-0 halftime lead and never looked back, defeating Lewis Central 35-7.  After the last Monarch touchdown in the fourth quarter, Jeremy Yates returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.  Quarterback Brady Erickson was 6-of-14 passing for 107 yards.  Brad South had two catches for 32 yards and Lucas Thomsen had two receptions for 27 yards.  Ben Edwards led the Titans on the ground with 39 yards on nine carries.  On defense, Jake Vincent had eight tackles, including one for a loss, and Mike Stamp had seven tackles.  "We got one more week to get better," said Titan coach Duane Orr.  "Let the young kids grow up."  The 1-7 Titans close out the season at home against 5-3 Creston, a 54-0 loser to Harlan.

10/17/03 The Titans got that elusive first win of the season at Red Oak, defeating the Tigers 33-12.  "I've got to give an awful lot of credit to these kids," said Lewis Central coach Duane Orr.  "They've battled so hard all year long and we've had some close calls, but they just keep working.  This is a big win for us."  Trailing 6-0, the Titans reeled off 33 unanswered points.  Brady Erickson had a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter, a 14-yard toss to Brad Stageman and a 12-yarder to Brad South with :05 left before halftime.  Erickson finished 6-of-20 passing for 150 yards.  South caught three passes for 73 yards.  Ben Edwards had a one-yard touchdown plunge early in the third quarter to put the Titans up 21-6 and Adam Cooney put the finishing touches on the scoring run with a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.  Justin Toole sandwiched a 31-yard field goal in-between the two second half touchdowns and was 4-for-4 on extra point kicks on the night.  Toole was also dominant with his punting, kicking the ball seven times for 320 yards, including a long punt of 65 yards.  "Toole is really helping the football team with his leg," Orr said.  "He's putting it out of bounds and inside the 10 very consistently."  The 1-6 Titans return home to face 3-4 Denison-Schleswig, coming off a 13-10 loss to Atlantic

10/10/03:  Steve Lynes tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Andy Schmailzl on the first play of overtime, followed by a goal line stand by the Glenwood defense, allowing the Rams to hold on and beat the Titans 21-14.  Lewis Central tried four running plays on its overtime possession, but came up inches short of pay dirt on fourth down to end the game.  Glenwood had forced the extra session by scoring with 4:49 left in regulation.  Trailing 7-0 with :13 left before halftime, Lewis Central tied the game on Seth Jackson's six-yard pass TD pass from Brady Erickson.  The Titans took a 14-7 lead in the fourth quarter when Luke Stamp caught a 22-yard pass from Erickson on a fake field goal.  "We played like a real football team," said Lewis Central coach Duane Orr.  "At times, we played like a good football team.  We need to play like a good football team for longer periods of time."  This week the Titans (0-6) travel to Red Oak, which lost to Harlan 61-6
