11-3 It may not have been shades of the old wing bone attack that led Millard North to the state championship last year, but the Mustangs served notice that they're ready to defend their title in handing Millard West a 17-7 setback in the first round of the state high school playoffs. The teams battled on even terms in the lst half, going to the locker room at intermission deadlocked at 7. Turnovers hurt the Wildcats in the 2nd half and Millard North took advantage. Jack Behrens recovered a fumble inside the 'Cats 10 yard line, then early in the 4th quarter, Quarterback Nick Argyle slipped free for 12 yards and the go ahead score. Later, a pass interception set up a 27 yard field goal by Jordan
Farrell to complete the scoring. The win avenged an earlier 26-20 loss to West. The Mustangs earned a spot in the quarterfinals and will entertain a strong Bellevue West team, which defeated the Mustangs in a regular season game, 28-16. That matchup will take place Monday night.
October 29
Millard North closed the regular season with a 6-14 loss to rival Millard South at Buell Stadium Thursday night.
The Mustangs offense was unable to get on track until the fourth quarter when Paul Homer scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. The Millard North defense held South scoreless in the second half as the Mustangs attempted a comeback as the clock ran out.
October 23
The Mustangs dropped to 3-5 after Friday night's 16-28 loss to Bellevue West.
Millard North jumped off to a 3-0 first quarter lead with a 23-yard Jordan Farrell field goal. The Mustang offense was unable to add to the score until the second half when Jake Behrens scored on an 85-yard kickoff return and Nick Argyle scored on a 7-yard touchdown run to narrow the lead to 16-21. Millard North was unable to complete the comeback attempt when Bellevue West scored again in the fourth quarter to end the game 28-16.
Millard North finishes the regular season Thursday night against Millard South at Buell Stadium.
October 18
Millard North recorded a 31-21 win over visiting Papillion LaVista Friday night behind reserve quarterback sophomore Nick Argyle.
The Mustangs scored first on a Jake Behrens 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Monarchs got on the board twice in the first quarter before the Mustangs responded with a 23-yard touchdown run by Nick Argyle to tie the score at 14 to end the first quarter. Argyle scored again in the second quarter on a 47-yard touchdown run to give Millard North a 21-14 halftime lead. North scored twice in the third quarter on a 24-yard Jordan Farrell field goal and again on a Paul Homer 2-yard touchdown run for a 31-14 lead at the end of 3 quarters. The Monarchs attempted a comeback run in the fourth quarter but were held to one touchdown as the Mustangs went on to win 31-21.
The Mustangs faces host Bellevue West Friday night.

In a scoreless second half, Millard North was unable to complete their comeback attempt in a 12-17 loss to #2 Omaha Westside Friday night.
Jeff Tarpinian scored in the first quarter on a 2-yard run to narrow the Westside lead to 14-6. Tarpinian scored again on a 2-yard run in the second quarter finishing with 88 yards rushing before leaving the game with an injury. Millard North had one more opportunity late in the game but were unable to capitalize after Behrens was stopped for a 2-yard loss on fourth and 2 on the Westside 33.
The Mustangs host Papillion LaVista Friday night.

The Millard North Mustangs rushed for 402 yards in a 26-27 loss to Omaha Burke Thursday night dropping to 1-3 for the season.
The Mustangs took the lead in the fourth quarter when Tarpinian, who rushed for three scores and passed for another, broke loose on a 34-yard touchdown run. With just under 5 minutes remaining in the game the Mustangs were unable to convert on Tarpinian's conversion run holding a 26-21 lead. The Bulldogs came back to take a 27-26 lead with 2:30 remaining. North responded driving to the Burke 22 but were unable to capitalize on three Burke penalties.
The Mustangs will face Omaha Northwest on the road next Friday.

The defending Class A state champion Mustangs got back on track with a 23-7 victory over visiting Lincoln East before an estimated 3,000 at Buell Stadium.
Jeff Tarpinian scored the the first touchdown for North on a 14 yard run followed by a successful Craig Mantz kick. The Mustangs were held scoreless in the second quarter but came out ready in the second half.
The Mustang defense allowed only 57 yards after halftime, while the offense made some big plays with fewer mistakes to break the 7-7 halftime tie. In the third quarter Mantz started the second half scoring with a field goal to break the 7-7 tie. The Mustang offense broke loose in the fourth quarter scoring on a Jake Behrens 37 yard run and a Paul Homer 2 yard run to claim the 23-7 win for North.
The Mustangs will host Omaha Burke on Thursday at Buell Stadium on the Millard South campus.
9/8 Millard North spotted Westside a 14-0 first quarter lead, and despite losing signal caller Jeff Tarpinian to a shoulder injury, fell just short in a 17-12 setback that puts the Mustangs playoff hopes in jeopardy. Tarpinian suffered the injury late in the first half. Coach Fred Petito's club had the advantage in total yards, but were shutout in the 2nd half. Sophomore Austin Williams played the last 2 periods at Quarterback. The Mustangs are now 2-4 with games coming up against Papillion Lavista, Bellevue West, and Millard South.
The Millard North Mustangs jumped off to a 28-0 first quarter lead over Omaha Northwest Friday night scoring 3 times in a five-minute span and rolling up 386 yards on the ground.
The Mustangs were led by quarterback Jeff Tarpinian who scored on 4 of his 6 carries running for 200 yards. The Mustangs added 2 touchdowns in the second quarter and one in the third to claim a 48-14 win over Northwest.
The Mustangs host Omaha Westside on Friday night.
