Skutt spotted Omaha Gross a 3-0 1st Quarter lead, then bounced back with 2 2nd period touchdowns enroute to a 28-17 win over the Cougars. Quarterback Bryant McCann was double trouble for Gross, running for 105 yards and passing for 104. Gross rallied to take a 17-14 lead in the 3rd quarter, but McCann ran for a 13 yard touchdown and Alex Anderson closed the scoring with a 33 yard scamper. The Skyhawks play host to Platteview this Friday.
Omaha Skutt bounced back from an opening night loss to Lincoln Pius by downing So. Sioux City, 42-0. The Skyhawks jumped to a 29-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Bryant McCann was 13-13 for 236 yards and two touchdowns. The Skyhawk defense held the Cardinals to 64 total yards.
Friday's matchup with Beatrice will be a good barometer for measuring the relative strengths of the two teams.
